Need some ideas for social media posts and promotions this month? Timely social posts that celebrate special holidays or seasonal themes tend to do well when it comes to engagement. Here are some ideas that you can use to get your business’ social media following engaged in August:

National Observations for the Month of August

  • Black Business Month
  • Motorsports Awareness Month
  • National Crayon Collection Month
  • Family Fun Month
  • National Eye Exam Month
  • National Water Quality Month
  • National Sandwich Month
  • National Picnic Month
  • International Peace Month

If any of these monthly observations relate to your business or resonate with your audience in some way, consider running a month-long promotion or doing a social media post just to spread awareness and get your followers talking.

August Nationally Recognized Weeks

Week-long observations are great for running promotions and contests. Try doing a social media exclusive discount promotion for National Bargain Hunting Week or an Elvis impersonation contest for Elvis Week!

You can also use holidays for a one-day promotion, for example, “Tomorrow is National Senior Citizens Day, seniors come in for a 10% discount for the entire day!”

Another engaging way to post about holidays is to show how your company celebrates them. For example, add a few photos of employees and caption them with a joke that person told for National Tell a Joke Day. Or just a picture of your team eating creamsicles on August 14th!

End-of-Summer Themes

You don’t want to oversaturate your social feed with a different holiday-related post everyday… realistically you should limit them to a handful per month. However, that doesn’t mean your other posts can’t be timely and relevant.

  • Vacations/Travel
  • Back to School
  • Beaches
  • Barbeques
  • State Fairs
